About Philip Evans

I've been teaching personal finance for over 12 years. I began when I was asked to help set up a financial capability charity and, although it wasn’t a career change that I had planned, I found it the most rewarding job I have ever done. I've worked independently since 2005 and from 2010-2014 I ran a Christians financial capability project for All Souls Church, Langham Place, called Money-Ed. The free literature we produced continues to be available at www.clubhousew1.org/moneyed .  I continue to be based at All Souls Clubhouse Community Centre & Church on an informal basis.

Although most of my teaching experience has been in schools and with young people on courses to improve their employability, from the start I wanted what I teach to be compatible with what I believe as a Christian. This began a research project that continues and shows no sign of ending. What I write, however, is not just for people who share my religion, or who experience debt and other money problems, but for people of all religions and none. The status and function of money in society and personal life challenges every generation, whether they have little or plenty, whatever their beliefs about God.

These Reflections are therefore for everyone – all except those whose religion is finance and whose god is money. They are for everyone who hopes for a better way of life than that.

I usually publish new Reflections at 6:01pm on Friday evenings (UK time).

I should point out that handling money and dealing with debt can be complicated and neither I nor anyone else involved in the production of these Reflections is responsible for any action you take, or fail to take, based on them. You are welcome to copy the Reflections on a non-profit basis.
